Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
It’s got the Z51 performance upgrades, deviated stitching w/ matching seat belts, really uncomfortable seats, and lots of “R” stickers. I think they’ve been taking notes from Honda.
It’s also wider than a standard C8, but it still seems impossibly small while maintaining stupid wide door sills. I will need to lose 50 lbs if I inherit it. Even with the impossibly big wheels, the roofline is lower than my 996.
Chevy only made 1,000 of them, so it should be more collectible…
From the perspective of a C4 Corvette owner, it is light-years better than mine. It is also REMARKABLY better than the C7 my pop traded in for it. The C8 moves the Corvette from “America’s sports car” to “America’s supercar.”
My pop is 80; in the process of showing me some features, he inadvertently put it into race mode…so I was relieved to learn that he got home alive.

Actually it’s a pretty freakin’ intriguing story as to how the C8.R was born and the ordeal of the engineer who created it:

Chebby could do worse than copying the Honda Type R badge and any associated performance upgrades.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 3:54 pm It’s got the Z51 performance upgrades, deviated stitching w/ matching seat belts, really uncomfortable seats, and lots of “R” stickers. One of my AutoX buddies sold his Miata and bought a C8. It is a beautiful car but much larger/wider than they look from a far.
Good on your Dad for buying one. Life is too short to drive boring cars!

Yes, the C8.R is pretty amazing, and I became a fan when I saw it's backstory.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
That's cool. When I looked it up I got a lot of info about the C8 R race car but it didn't seem to be like a "GT3 light" and I haven't heard of a Corvette GT3 or anything like that. Looks GORGEOUS. I'm really liking the new mid engine Corvette. It's a shame they ran out of money to design the back end but you can't see it from the inside, anyway!
That came out of nowhere and yes you got me

Ricciardo Astlé is a hell of an engineer.
