Touchless automated car washes: do you or don’t you?

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

NO! I have found it tends to dry out my skin too much.

No choice but to use them here in the winter. No way I’m going to wash my car in the driveway when it is 35 degrees outside! If I lived in perfect weather paradise like you do I would probably not use them - pretty quick and easy to wash a 911 by hand...

On a serious side: Yes for the Rav(I even sometimes run it through the spinning brushes of death washes) and the Type R. No on the P-car. I don't mind hand washing it because it is so small. The Type R is a huge pain in the arse to hand wash because of all the fake aero crap. It takes longer to dry it than it does to wash and dry the 996. I have read the soap used in any automatic washes tend to be pretty strong stuff and can strip waxes and stuff off the paint, but they are handy. Are you limited on outside home water usage in your area?

Use one of the rinse less wash products like Optimum NoRinse. I use it in a 2 gallon pump sprayer and wash a car in my garage.

OK, never used that but it sounds like something I can use. Too much water in our garage is not good as it puddles under the door and would freeze if it was really cold. Will check it out.

Not sure what 'touchless' means, but the last time I used the automated car wash, it ripped off my front license plate. Our tires are wide, and the cars are low, so I would think most 996 owners would avoid them.

But I agree, here in the cold northeast, I'd rather not clean my car in 40 degree windy weather. As a last resort, I take my car to a 'hand wash' place a couple towns over, which is basically two guys with hoses in a garage. They don't do as good a job as I do, but its better than nothing.

"Touchless" washes are basically automated pressure washers/foam dispensers/giant hair dryers. The one nearest me allows you to choose between "brush" (sand your paint off) and "touchless" (blast your paint off)...
