Not in California...it's harder to get retail R-1234yf than it is to find a 20-round mag or a flash suppressor.

But you can always count on Amazon to skirt regulation...a recharge kit from one seller w/ 2 half-lb. cans of Honeywell refrigerant and 90% of the plumbing you need, and the correct low-side double-ended adapter from another...for about a hundred bucks.

WTF does the GC need refrigerant for? It's not that old?

The only car I've ever needed to do it for was a 88 325xi because the lines were trashed and needed to be replaced.

The 911 is still running on its factory fill and still blows nice and cold.

Only 2 years old - but just under 50K miles, with probably 8K of those miles off-road / on fire roads. All of the gear under the hood is really well shock-mounted, but...I'm sure something got flexed a bit too much.

My 996 has never needed refrigerant, but I had to top off my 986 every year or so.

Just got done pulling my 10” sub and the shelf it was hanging from out of the 996. I need to rework the shelf where it bolts into the seat mount holes to eliminate some rattles.

Tomorrow, I adjust the pass-side window regulator and swap out the driver-side regulator.

Spoiler: the dealer wants $380 to top the Grand Cherokee up with a pound of the stuff.
Yeah, same thing with our '15 Durango - it uses the 1234 stuff. It needed to be topped off last spring, so I did it myself by buying the parts store kit with the recharging hose. Fast forward to late August and the wife was complaining about it not blowing cold at stoplights. Took it to the local repair shop because I assumed it had a leak. Quoted $1,800 to fix the small leak. Most of that was the refrigerant cost.

I decided to spend yesterday morning washing and cleaning instead of disassembling the doors. I wasn't able to get the assclown-shaped imperfection out of the paint, unfortunately.

I'm back from a week of camping. Kind of cold and kind of windy but we were far enough south to dodge the snow that hit Bryce canyon. I forgot how much I like spending a week not knowing what's going on.

The last time I was out-of-pocket for more than the duration of a cell dead zone was my storied Navy career*, when we sailed back from Hawaii.

I miss the hell out of the ability to be incommunicado. To paraphrase Dom...for those 10 days, I was free. Screw this smartphone stuff...

The new avatar was basically forced upon me by one of esteemed computer/website nerds changing my byline from what it was to cornholio so I went with it. Glad you like it. Fits well don't you think?
