The windscreens work well for tall guys in the E-Type

Found out that they aren't remotely worth what the plain coupe and (especially) the roadster are worth which made it not as good of a deal as it first looked :(
Yeah those 2+2's do not hold a candle to the roadsters and standard coupes. The standard coupe always has called to me, was always wrenching on e-types or 120's at my buddies place. Learned a lot on those cars...especially to wheel the torches over right off the bat to scare submission into that old hardware
I think the roadster looks the best (only vert I will ever say that about), but I'm a coupe guy. 2+2s are significantly cheaper than coupes though and no non-Jag person is going to say how ugly it is ;)

I guess you can tell how much fun he is having by counting the bugs in his teeth.

So, for Father's Day today I decided to teach two of my daughters how to drive stick. Used the Jeep. I took them over to a big church parking lot. To demonstrate the Jeep's fine handling characteristics, I drove up over a curb and down the sidewalk.

A minute later, a church security guy comes running up, wanting to see my license, registration, etc. When I told him what I was doing, he said that he didn't know how to drive stick, so I said "want to learn?" He jumped onto a side rail and we drove to an adjacent field, and I taught all three. At the end, he exclaimed "that was the funnest day I ever had working here!"

Three novice stick drivers... I may need a new clutch soon.

Very cool. That sounds like a blast, Cuda! Now you can take them off-roading and share in the driving fun.

"With your left foot, slowly release the clutch pedal while gently applying the gas with your right foot. Perfect! Now mash the gas pedal down and aim for the giant windshield wiper blocking your view as if it's a pedestrian in a crosswalk! You have now mastered the art of piloting an off-road vehicle with a manual transmission in an urban setting."

Lesson #2: The subtle art of tossing your empty beer can over your shoulder and making it behind the rear seat, grabbing a fresh cold one, opening it, taking the first sip, and doing it all in one fluid movement without swerving, spilling, or your eyes leaving the trail. Kinda' like Grasshopper walking on rice paper, but more fun.

Just typing that has me missing my old CJ-7. But mine didn't have the fancy optional windshield wiper field of vision obstruction. And why am I suddenly thirsty?

Perfect Father's day for a gearhead. Glad you had a good one.

Great story, Cuda. So many times running into a security officer could turn into a nasty situation, but you thought on your feet and turned a tense moment into a wonderful memory. Awesome!

Wish my dad taught me how to drive stick. My uncle taught me in his pride and joy, his berlina black s2000 that I would end up buying from him a few years later. I think he had about 2.5 heart attacks and a stroke.

You're a good dad Cuda.

My pop's guide to merging into traffic: "If you get tired of waiting, pull out in front of the most expensive car you see."

My pop's guide to learning stick: "If you blow up the clutch, you'll be walking everywhere until I die."
