Turns out it was a bad battery. It was only a few months old, so I never expected it to be bad. Sorry it took so long. Ride on!

A few months!! What brand and rating battery was it. I'm considering replacing mine soon for age and don't want one of those.

In my experience our's will drain the battery below being able to start in 2 weeks of idleness. Make it 4 and it's drained it too low and killed the battery.

This is why I'm so thrilled Optima is making the H6 yellow top now. Now if it goes flat I just need to charge it back up and go.

Same here, gnat. I don't have an Optima but I have a Diehard AGM H7 now and I notice a huge difference between the new battery and my old "desperate times call for desperate measures" battery. (AKA "my battery died and an O'Reilly's was down the street" battery.)

It was one of those Interstate batteries. I got it from my Indy after the engine rebuild, as the existing battery was dead too. I assumed it was a new battery, but who knows. He replaced it free of charge. Next up is an oil change and 2 new fronts (PS4's). Motor on!

Just keep in mind that with an AGM battery, you may have to charge it using another battery if it gets really deeply discharged as your battery charger may not recognize the AGM battery:

I had this problem with my Audi A8 when it kept draining batteries. I had bought an AGM battery for it and couldn't get it to recharge sometimes.

The battery I just replaced was an Interstate which I let my Indy install against the "Interstate batteries are fucking trash" commentary from the wife in the background. Yes I am getting a lot of "I told you so"s...

Over 20 years I think this is our 4th Interstate battery and she isn't wrong. They seem to be the worst for surviving in the 996. And good luck trying to get their warranty out of them...

Thanks, Frunky. I've had an issue with the power outlets in my garage since...forever I think. I'm going to use some of my stimulus money to hire an electrician and then I can finally get a proper tender set up.
