gnat wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 10:52 am Well that did not go as planned :(

The lights look good:

Unfortunately the passenger side did not want to come out nicely and it appears that the tray is damaged so I can't get it to lock the light back in.
Took it to my Indy as he can keep it garaged for the weekend to keep it safe from the weather and someone screwing with it. It needed to go in anyway for various other things (oil, state inspection, emission inspection, AC issue, probably break fluid). Also finally getting the stupid headlight washers removed.

That fender got hit years ago and I think part of the problem is that it's a bit shifted and forcing the light just a hair off where it should be. So while the tray definitely needs to be replaced, I think there might be more to it.

Of course given it's current shape, when you add the lights and what this trip is likely to cost I'm spending more than the thing is technically worth

Come on now! The worth of a car is Not just measured by what KBB/Hagerty/or other services says it is.
Gave it a nice long (for it) drive while shuttling the baby birds to their new home. I always forget how effortless it moves above 4k and the lovely lovely sounds it makes in the lower half of the gears at extra-legal speeds

If the yellowed lens is the only thing wrong with the head lights, I would be willing to buy your old headlights. :)

TIL that all Litronic/Xenon cars apparently have headlight washers. I also learned that my Indy couldn't figure out to look at the Halogen parts diagram to find the new non-washer triangles that he needed to install. Oh well, it will just look a little funny for a week while I wait on Gaudin to ship them. Probably saving me at least $100 in the process...

So were those parts supposed to come with the headlights? What about the tray? Fixed?

Nope.

Yeap a new tray is apparently all it needed.

Even with the missing and wrong triangles, it looks much better!
