Hold the key fob upside down while grinning only on the left side of your face then press the button. If that doesn't work try the previous procedure but add sticking your tongue out on the right side of your mouth. If that doesn't work cuss loudly and wave the fob around like you just don't care while pressing the button. If those procedures fail unlock the door with the actual key which I understand is pretty caveman but that usually works for me. Seems like after going through all of the above the next time the remote works as designed. Seems it might be a "feature" the German engineer's add only to cars destined to the U.S.

so, now that you've ruined it, I can tell you how to fix it.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 6:26 amWell obviously, I screwed it up so maybe Wayne Dempsey will check in.
You have to pop the little logo out of the back of the key. Set that aside.
Throw the rest of the key out, Order a new key, have the vehicle and key taken to a dealer, where you have everything re-programmed. Then walk into the sale department and order a new car.
There, you fixed it.

I guess the only question is the GT3 or Taycan Turbo, in that case. Let me quick make a million dollars and run over there.Dgi 07 wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 6:33 amso, now that you've ruined it, I can tell you how to fix it.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 6:26 am

Check this TSB and see if any of this works for you. People have said they have mixed success with these instructions. I would start by using the key to manually lock/unlock the door and then start the car. Some people say they have to press the button while they're doing and others say they don't. I'd probably try both... If that doesn't work try the reversed polarity trick as described on page 3 of the attached TSB.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 6:31 am Ha! Spoke too soon. Nice man, thanks! Once I get done with work I'm going to reverse the polarity the shit out of it.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 12:36 pmCheck this TSB and see if any of this works for you. Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
First time I have ever seen a document to back up the reverse the battery black magic. I would love to see a schematic of the key fob. Doesn't such a chip usually have some sort of blocking device(diode) to prevent damage to down stream components due to a reversed polarity situation? "Processor" must be a translation thang...
