Did an easy and fun car improvement tonight - installed the non-smokers cubby in place of my ash tray. Now I actually have a useful place to put my car keys. Looking at the picture reminds me that I need to replace the parking brake handle too. Odd how the leather on it is destroyed - previous owner must have gotten something on it...
Nice... I've always liked that easy upgrade. Great job!
You know, that ashtray area would have been a decent place for the a cup holder, huh? I mean how hard would it have been for the fabricator to create a couple of circles? And yea, the window switches could be move to the.. uh... windows? Like on the door handle, maybe? lol

Look what I get to install on my day off. Just replaced the door lock assembly last week. I guess the light switch felt left out and so I'm going to be replacing it today. I guess I can't complain. It's a rainy day in Georgia.
For me, the light switch wasn't a slow death. When it was ready to die, it died! Like on the way home at night too. haha Had to run the fog lamps because it wouldn't switch into headlight mode.
Well... wish me luck!

Well, considering all the repairs I've done on these cars, this one has to have been the easiest. Got it installed in less than an hour. That's a record!
Best advice if you're doing this job - unplug the negative terminal. Word up!

Played around with a new material. More details in my maintenance thread in the DIY forum.

Heat shield bling. Very nice. Bet it was difficult to apply. That looks like some space age stuff.

Applying it is a little tricky if it's not on a flat surface. Other than that, not too bad!

SV,
The heat shield wrap is interesting. Makes me say, “Hmmm!”. And the spout thing you showed looks a helluva lot less messy than using funnels...my next purchase. But do you have wall bling for your garage? Scantily clad car babes, a neon Porsche sign, some Porsche flags?
