What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Pretty sure dealerships can no longer service anything more than 18 months old…

Has your 996 been MIA since the window drop deal!!??gnat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 12:01 pm Looks like yet another weekend without the 911
This security module swap has turned into an ordeal that the Indy had to send it over to the Porsche dealer to sort out. They have of course been sitting on their thumbs and apparently finally decided yesterday that the new module they sold my shop is bad and have ordered a new one...

So today I received the license plate/registration notice on the Porsche and discovered another good reason to live in flyover country and own a worn out old German sports car.
$106 all in delivered to my mail box.
I know I'm going to hear from those living in other states that only pay $35, but this made my day.

Not the whole time. It was home with the battery out for almost 2 months waiting on the module. Now it's been out of possession for a month waiting on said module to be installed.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 1:19 pmHas your 996 been MIA since the window drop deal!!??gnat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 12:01 pm Looks like yet another weekend without the 911

In Kansas, once your car gets to be 35 years old, the annual license plate/registration is $0. The 914 is already registered as an antique. Three more of the hooptie fleet turned 35 this year and another one next year. I just need to take the titles down to the license bureau to get the new plates. Woot woot.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 2:46 pm So today I received the license plate/registration notice on the Porsche and discovered another good reason to live in flyover country and own a worn out old German sports car.

JEEBUS! Like not even owning one. Isn't this just an unplug the old and plug in the new repair? Tell me it's not the same place of your preferred body shop.
Why doesn't this crap happen in late Fall?

Nope. PIWIS is needed for proper programming, so not remotely a DIY job.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 3:07 pmJEEBUS! Like not even owning one. Isn't this just an unplug the old and plug in the new repair? Tell me it's not the same place of your preferred body shop.

I didn't mean a DIY job. Just surprised a professional garage couldn't turn it quicker, of course, if they had gotten a working module from Porsche.gnat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 3:53 pmNope. Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Yeah that was kinda the problem. It didn't work and the original belief was that the issue was with the old module, so they took it to Porsche to try. Porsche apparently just decided to park it in someone's ass rather than work on it...32wildbilly wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 4:46 pmI didn't mean a DIY job.
