Alas, not a fluid change. He is "90%" its the clutch master cylinder which he will change, then see if it also needs the slave. I would have done the opposite, but either way he is hoping to save me from having to do both. What are the chances the first repair fixes it? It depends on the sacrifices of lifetime coolant I have made to the Porsche gods, obviously. Thanks for the good thoughts.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 11:20 am I hope my spilled oil may appease the Porsche gods on behalf of my 996 brothers. Hear my prayer. For every chain guide there is a light bulb. For every differential seal there is a window regulator. And for every ECU malfunction there is a motor mount. So, for when the gearbox cries, send to OceanBlue the fluid change. Amen.

Either or both is better than an exploded pressure plate/clutch disc.

Kicking myself a little bit on this one. I justified buying this car with the idea I would work on it myself. And I punted on this one because I was lazy. All it took was reading a couple posts about how PITA the slave cylinder was to get in. And here it seems I diagnosed it correctly, which really is the tough part. Ugh. I guess I'm going to have to fix something before I feel better.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:43 pm Either or both is better than an exploded pressure plate/clutch disc.

Hell I struggle mentally just changing the oil and filter. Don't feel bad. I have bought a crap load of parts I was going to change only to end up having my Indi do it because I'm too lazy or afraid I would jack something up.

Shucks, well, better than some repairs I suppose. And don't worry about passing on the project. This car is the gift that keeps on giving in that regard Opportunities around the corner!

I'm considering taking a "don't look at your own profile" approach to this place!

I guess I need to start posting even more obnoxious things than I do to get one of these profile jokes.
A small piece of good news, car is done and I got away with just the master. Hmmm. I guess my new indy is honest?
