Nebraska doesn't give a damn about either...

Our cars actually have windshield wipers?? Why?

Did you point out to the inspector that it's a Porsche so the wipers are never needed as it would explode if exposed to rain?

Anyone besides me have occasional issues with spin-on filters becoming loose between oil changes? This is the second oil change out of the past 3 or 4 on my 996 when I found the filter loose enough to be seeping oil.

I've changed oil countless times on a boatload of different vehicles...and I've never seen this happen in the past.

I'll just plan to check it occasionally, which seems silly but it's better than having the filter back off far enough to cause issues.

Maybe something's changed with the Napa Gold filter gasket... :?

Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Or perhaps weakness is setting in. You know you are now a "gentleman of a certain age"... You should disconnect the power steering pump in your car for a few months to see if that improves this "situation".

I feel that a joke has been made here, I cannot quite place it though.

Heh. The problem I have is applying the universal German torque spec (gut-n-fuckin'-tight) to fasteners and other objects.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Window washer is fixed, state inspection sticker obtained.
The washer pump is used on about every German vehicle from the mid 90's on. I asked for a windshield washer pump for a '98 VW Beetle - $25 at NAPA Auto Parts and 79 cents extra for a new grommet (wallace not included).

Since the headlight washer pump was also seized up, cracked, and leaking I made an aluminum plug to replace it and removed the headlight washer completely. This saves almost an entire pound!

The tricky part is that if your car is lowered the fluid tank doesn't really fit out of the fenderwell. It takes some origami to get it out and back in. And I needed to get it out at least four times because I could not find where it was dripping after installing the new pump. Finally it dawned on me that I could fill the tank OUTSIDE of the car - well yeah, that makes sense - and I found the leaky grommet and headlight pump.

No crackers, Gromit! We've forgotten the crackers!
