I dropped $500 at Discount Tire for new rear tires for my 996 C4.

I also just finished replacing the headlight gears on the 1996 C4. For the second time. What a pain in the ass…thanks for using shitty plastic gears that disintegrate every 10 years, Chevy.

Also, I learned that the previous homeowner (Mr. Hand - no lie) framed the louvre opening for the whole-house fan exactly one Inch smaller - in just one dimension - than standard whole-house fan louvres. The proper term to describe examples of his shitty workmanship I encounter is (obviously) “Hand jobs.”

Well, it looks like Fedex freight lost my transmission. Oh well, $12k out the window.
Dammit.

This is to send my spare gearbox out for inspection and repair of any bearings that might need it; check the LSD and rebuild it if needed; add the fittings for a gearbox cooler; and if I can afford it regear 1st/2nd/3rd with the 997.2GT2RS gears and steel syncros for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
The ultimate plan is to swap out the Tip for this manual box. I have everything that I think I need except for the clutch hydraulic pipes.

SERIOUSLY!!??

During my discussions with Jake Raby he talked about how they ship engine blocks to and from LN by dedicated carriers for the exact reason you are dealing with on FedEx.

Any recourse?

Shipping was arranged by the rebuilder. I believe Fedex freight liability is limited to $112.50 - 50 cents/lb for LTL freight.

Any clue where the transmission was last seen? If it's between here and LA I will hunt for you. This fires me up.

Seems like Fedex Freight found the transmission. After having it be "in transit" between Chicago and Phoenix for the last 8 days with no delivery scheduled and no actual knowledge by anyone as to where it was, it's now in Kingman, AZ which is less than 60 miles from the final destination of Lake Havasu City.

Edit: It's not actually there; Fedex is looking for it again.

You are a much more patient person than I am. I would have "John Wayned" FedEx numerous times over this situation. During December I ordered something insignificant from a seller in Cali. I was calm for 10 days after it was allegedly shipped. It seemed stalled as your transmission does. I barked at the seller and within a day it showed movement again and was here a few days later. Funny how that happens.

Seriously, I hope they find it.
