First day in a while with no rain here in central Ohio. So I washed it tonight.

Drove the old 996 to the PCA breakfast this morning - and got a serious case of 991/GT3 envy. [4 liter / manual shift]

After I did some errands and parked WAY far away from the entrance to the grocery store:

While inside the store I forgot which car I had brought and bought WAY too much stuff. I was using every seat and what frunk space was left to get the groceries home.

Did my first oil/filter change on my car after 1 year of ownership and a whopping ~2000 miles. As the car is fairly new to me, I replaced the entire oil filter assembly along with the oil pressure relief valve/spring. With the car in the air, I got a nice first look around under the car...CV boots and suspension goodies all looked good as well as no signs of any leaks.

Congrats on the oil change. Good call on changing the oil; most will recommend changing every 5000 miles or every year, whichever comes first.

If the car doesn't have it already, I would look into getting the LN Engineering magnetic drain plug for your next change.

Over the weekend I installed the AKR-BKRCD (https://www.discountcarstereo.com/a2d-bkrcd.html) Bluetooth adapter. I've always had a plug-in Bluetooth adapter which was annoying because I couldn't plug anything else into the lighter, blank radio stations are hard to find, and if I left it plugged in it would drain the battery.

This one leaves the CD changer functionality intact. Not that I play CDs all the time, but I'm weird about losing stock functionality.

Installation was a snap. I spliced in the optional ($8) noise filter, removed the radio with the German Radio Removal Tools ($4) and then just unplugged the AUX and Power plugs, plugged the new harness into the radio, then plugged the AUX and power plugs into the new harness. The toughest part was getting the radio back in. The Bluetooth adapter is too big to live in the space behind the radio, so you have to kind of wedge it up and behind the temp control head before you get the radio in.

The streaming audio quality is almost CD-level crisp. Having no interference running through the FM band probably helps. Turn off the Bluetooth functionality and the CD audio comes back on. One thing that is a little annoying is that the CD player is running while you're streaming audio. Not a big deal obviously. I may opt to get the remote if I can figure out where to mount it. I can only advance tracks via the phone.

Any way, I'm happy and at ~$100 all in, not too bad for bringing my car some modern functionality while retaining the stock look.

Since it was an almost perfect 78 degree afternoon, I took the time to change the air filters - engine and cabin. Taking the whole air box out seems to be the easiest way to do this, plus I was able to clean a wee bit of dust from the intake plenum.

I had ambitions of really cleaning up the bay as well as the whole airbox assembly, but settled for a cursory bit of grease/dirt removal. No concours points today.

I used a little gadget that I picked up at a huge sale when they closed the local Sears: A small Black & Decker rechargable driver. Light weight, turns slow and makes small jobs a LOT easier than trying to wield a huge DeWalt unit. It charges with a micro-USB of all things. :D Best $6 that I've spent in recent memory.

The old air filter was not that bad, but there was some dried leaf crap in the lower box. The upper half of the box was clean. Replaced the old with a new Mahle filter and buttoned it up.

The cabin filter is so easy no photo is necessary.

Nice way to spend part of an afternoon. 8-)
