Macan Brake Change DIY Tips & Tricks

OK, post your lessons learned here regarding brake changes on Macans.
Here's a link to a couple of good threads over on MacanForum.com:

There are several key differences between the various early Macan models: base, S, GTS, Turbo and Turbo with Performance Package, and of course the rare Macans with PCCB.

For example, the Macan GTS and Turbo both have the large, 6-pot, 360 mm front rotors. But, they have different rear rotors, with the Turbo having a 356 mm rear rotor and the GTS sharing the S model's 330 mm rotors.

The S has different front rotors than the GTS. The base model, well I'm not sure since I'll likely never buy one.

Here's a note to hopefully help others avoid the same problem I just had (which was self-inflicted). I have several old Porsches and do a lot of my own wrenching. When ordering parts, the last letter in the part number is generally the version of the part to show that the part has been revised over time. So, for my 928, if the part number I need to replace is 928-452-006, the current version offered for sale now might be 928-452-006C, meaning that it's probably the 3rd revision to that original part made created back in the 1970s. I've gotten used to ignoring that last letter as long as the numbers are the same.

Last week, I went to purchase rear rotors. The part number is 95B-615-601D. So, when I see 95B-615-601G, and the fitment chart says it is for a 2018 Macan Turbo, I says to myself "Self, that should work just fine." The rotors arrived on my doorstep yesterday. Last night, I'm in the middle of replacing the rears brakes, and I pull the old rotor off and chuck it into the bottom of my end-of-summer nasty, smelly garbage can. I then open the box for the new rotors, et voila', there sits a nice 330 mm rotor rather than the 356 mm rotor I was expecting. I go back to the eBay ad and it does show fitment for the Turbo, but there's also about 5 places where it says "Please call us before ordering with your VIN number to ensure proper fit." So, now I'm probably stuck with the rotors for a GTS/S since I'm sure the return shipping costs are going to be half of what I paid for the entire part.

Moral the story is that for Macan rear rotors, the last letter of the part number DOES matter. 95B-615-601G is for the GTS/S model and 95B-615-601D is for the the Turbo. Live and learn.

One last thing, after shopping around this morning, AutohausAZ seemed to have the best price on a set of rear rotors. The ATE brand was $82.99. For a set of two with regular shipping and tax, it was $211.62 total. Here's a link:
