Poor, poor Optionman! Deciding which car to drive each day must require a mood ring reading. Both cars are beautiful. And welcome to the Outpost.

Bought it from a dealer, knew nothing, but he let me “drive it like i stole it” 2x and the car spoke to me. Bug bit hard and a year later i bought a 997.2 4s with FSI Stage II track performance engine.

Drive my 996 every chance i can. Have put 18k spirited miles on it in 17 months.

Marty,

Two Porsches. You got to tell us your secrets? How did you get this past the wife?

I have a great wife, we’ve been together for 37 years. She encouraged me to treat myself and buy my first 911, the 996. Her only stipulation was “install a good radar detector”. Who am I to argue.... The 997 was an impulse purchase but she blessed it in advance as well. She might have thought I’d sell the 996 after buying it but that was never really discussed.

Key to a long marriage is no secrets.

Hey cheers to that! It was Mrs.Dr.Strangelove that famously said "I think you should make an offer" after I tried to talk myself out of it. Cemented her in my heart forever, honestly. She really gets me better than I do.

Or... Amazing what we can get girls to do after we talk about a car for 400 hours straight!

I prefer to think of it as breaking their spirit, or in my case, the will to live. When the 914 purchase happened back in July, she just shook her head in disgust when I went to get permission. She did, however, have me sign a piece of scrap paper saying I was never going to buy another car. Yeah, like that'll hold up in court.

I had to pay my wife off when a non running roller showed up to her surprise, lol! She still loves me and the runner-ex-roller!

LOL, honey I'm a lawyer, would I lie to you? This is a completely legal contract.

Figured it's time for me to say hi. I've been a lurker here for a while. I occasionally post on RL.

I've been enjoying my C2 for a couple years now, despite my engine ticking and sooty pipes 😉. I'll eventually rebuild it, but plan to drive it either until I'm ready to rebuild or it goes boom. I just love this car and love the motor.

I'll crawl back into the shadows but now you know I'm watching 🧐

Welcome merlot! Don’t be shy about posting - we would love to have some new voices in here! And post a couple of pics of your ride!
