Trim Rings for Instrument Cluster

Post by kcattorney » Wed Jun 27, 2018 2:54 pm

OK, I was browsing Rennlist (dammit) when I came across a thread on trim rings for the instrument cluster. I always thought they dressed up the interior in a non-ricey manner, but the manufacturer apparently went tits up a few years ago. Apparently, a new company in Poland is now making them. Here's a link to the ebay Poland site where you can order them:

https://www.ebay.pl/itm/222388884485

ebay Poland is in, as you might guess, Polish. But, you can login to ebay Poland using your regular ebay username and password. Then, you can order them and pay for them through ebay using your already stored credit card or PayPal. The cost, including shipping, comes in at about $49 (185 Polish whatevers). Several people on Rennlist (dammit) report quick shipping and good quality as they are metal rings, not painted plastic. They come in polished or brushed aluminum. It appears that the brushed aluminum matches the 996 interior silver pieces. After you order, you send an ebay message to the seller telling them if you want polished or brushed aluminum.

Got my trim rings in from Poland today. They are packaged very well so they shouldn't bend in transit. I had not checked my mailbox for a few days, so they may have arrived earlier than today. Given that I ordered them on June 27th, I would say that shipping was "meh".

Here's what the inner package looked like:

Then after opening that packet:

Here's a "before" shot:

Took about 5 minutes to get them all mounted. Takes a bit of wiggling and pressing to get them in properly, but no adhesive necessary. And "after" shot:

Those do look good.

Answer this for me...you left your car running during this entire install?

A few observations: Charging level and oil pressure looks too low for a cold start. Idle rpm seems high, but maybe you had the AC on as the ambient temp shows 90 degrees which would explain that.

Wait this is a "ragged out, modified, hi-mileage" Turbro so...NEVERMIND! Carry on...everything looks GREAT! ;)
