Went out to the car this afternoon and found this. Not the biggest crack, but now that I've seen it I can't un-see it when I take the car out. Tiny little divot in the middle of the crack indicates something hit it. Someone probably hit it with a cart, or otherwise backed into it. Kids are a darkhorse candidate but would never tell me the truth anyway.
However it happened, I'm looking to see if anyone has a decent used tail light laying around for a decent price. If not, I'll probably end up on flea bay. New, these look like $500 and the crack isn't that big. Part number 996.631.495.00, which is another thing. My current light is all white on top, and red on the bottom except for the back up light. What's with the ones with all amber on top? Euro? Is mine aftermarket? Just curious.

I don’t have one that I’m willing to part with ... have you checked partssociety.com? I’ve had good results with parts from them.

Be careful replacing just one. Got rear ended and both were replaced. A year later I got hit again, but only one tail light got replaced. Even in that short period of time there was enough sun damage that they were distinctly different. Talk about irritating every time you approach it from the rear
2 years in and they finally both look about the same. At least close enough that it's not obvious without seriously looking at it.

Thanks man. I got a guy from another site who says I can have his for shipping. It might be a little damaged, but not where you can see. I think I've decided that any non-c4s, turbo, widebody will fit. Who knows.

Can't beat freebies! Yep... pretty much all the NB rear lights will fit. Some of the early 99 models had the amber turn signal section, but all the rest were the same. But Gnats advice is dead on... there is always a chance the clarity is off due to age and treatment.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 1:18 pm Thanks man. Is this what you mean by a different light? Our's came like this from the factory (no amber).
