This is an old guide that has been online for a while but it is so old that the photo links are dead and it was written only for the Valentine V1. I've redone the guide for any radar detector that gets its power from an RJ11 (phone) cord. It is also rewritten so that beginners will be able to follow along step-by-step without feeling lost.
The guide itself is a PDF that I sized for mobile devices so that you can download to your phone or tablet and follow along in your garage. Each page is a step, so that you don't have to keep flipping back and forth.

I will probably be tapping into the sunroof power for a dash cam. Did not think of that till I read this, so thanks for sharing!

I just fuse-tapped the dash cam and radar into fuse boxes on my Acura. Used the sunroof for radar, and wipers for the dash cam. Works great. Required no wire cutting and can be pulled out without leaving a mess. Amazon sells the fuse-taps very cheap.

I use the Escort SmartCord Live bluetooth gadget to interface my phone with my detectors. The dongle is powered by the cell phone connector. The unit is ziptied under the dash in the passenger footwell; the cable is routed up the passenger-side A-pillar trim and under the front edge of the headliner.
Since suction cup mounts are illegal in CA (what ISN'T illegal in CA), I use a mirror mount in my vehicles similar to this one. If I'm parking in a sketchy area, I stash the detector in the door pocket and swing the mount up behind the mirror to hide it.
In addition to being able to control all of the settings via bluetooth, the SmartCord live also displays live speed information, current speed limit, an adjustable overspeed warning, and the ability to monitor crowdsourced police activity. I generally don't use the latter, since it's typically stale data (like Waze)...

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
