Well, the Ravenna Green on BaT has only 10 minutes to go and it is still under $19k.

Was a "Reserve Not Met" at $18,800. I had $18,000 as the value in my mind, but figured BaT would bid it up well past $20k. I am surprised that it didn't get bid up further. I am not surprised it was a no sale at $18,800. But, that being said, $18,800 plus another grand for auction commission puts it near $20,000. That's a realistic price for that car. BaT needs to get more aggressive on setting reserve prices at realistic levels. A reserve price is not supposed to be set at "top of the market". I've already become jaded on BaT because of how high the bids get run up. Add to that the unrealistic reserve prices, and it quickly becomes no fun to even watch the auctions anymore. Even if you happen to come across a car that doesn't get bid up sky high and you end up the high bidder at a reasonable sale price, the seller won't sell. Basically, if you want to buy a car on BaT, expect to pay full-service dealer retail price. There are no "good deals" on BaT anymore.

Is that new Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed 4k mod? Looks nice. But why are you driving 914? Test it out on Moby Dick please.

Worrying about whether that smell is just rich exhaust or if the fuel is dripping directly on the exhaust?

Congrats!

Thanks, fellas. I'll post some more pics this weekend after I have a chance to put it up on the lift and crawl around it a bit. The seller didn't reattach the rocker panel covers (I guess he figured it was sold, so screw it), so I need to get them re-attached. In all fairness, the seller spent a lot of time gathering up all of the receipts and summarizing the dates of the previous work done, going back to before 2008. I ordered some fancy new rocker panels covers with "Porsche" embossed in them that go on top of the factory rocker panel covers. Right now my garage is still being used as a paint booth by the kitchen cabinet painters. They are supposed to be gone tomorrow, though, so I'll get my garage and 4-post lifts back.

I drove it around last night and it is a blast to drive. Initial driving impressions are that it demands your full attention. You kind of have to remember what gear you're in - you can't really tell from the location of the shifter. The shift knob resides somewhere under my right knee. You don't really know what gear you've selected until you release the clutch. It likes to shift from 2nd gear directly into 5th gear rather than 3rd. I can hit 3rd about 7 out of 10 times on the first try. The gas pedal is back behind the center console stack - seemingly halfway between the driver and passenger footwells. Headlights work in both high and low beam. The right headlight is aimed about 5 feet in front of the car. Has an occasional backfire, most often when letting off the gas at higher RPMs. The gas tank is located in the frunk - you literally open the frunk hood and refill the gas tank inside the frunk (seems safe in the event of a fuel spill :o ).

A couple of beauty pics from today. I got the rocker panel covers on (I have a set of fancy Porsche embossed ones on order). Took off the stupid fake carbon fiber windshield tint and the paper mini-blind thingies from the A-pillars. I still haven't detailed it, but at least took a couple of pics at the office today. I am going to transition from this thread to the maintenance thread on the car, so probably won't post much more in here about it.

Anyways, here you go:

Shifting challenge sounds 100% normal for a 914. Early cars (70-72) we much worse. Dont worry about where the headlight is aimed. They are about as bright as a glow-in-the- dark watch face. I put some super bright fog lights on my 74.
