Colt authentication service
So I own my Dad's old gun which is a Colt "Frontier Six Shooter" single action revolver 44-40 caliber. I believe it to be a 1903 Bisley model. The question I have is: does anyone know anything about this service, other than on the website, and/or ever used it. I'm just a little curious about the origin/age of this pistol.

Never used the service but I'd imagine if you were to take pictures of the gun over to an active Colt forum you'd get some really helpful info from folks similar to if you had inherited a 996 and came to the Outpost for help identifying.

Billy -- another possible route is to chat with the staff at a high-end firearms dealer, if there's one near you. I've been hugely impressed with the knowledge many of these folks have. One might be an aficionado of older Colt revolvers and could address your questions, or they may know a local resource that could help you.
Give that route a shot (hah!).
Soapbox commentary -- with the rise of Internet sales and compounded by the current "stay home or else" rules, one often forgets the value local brick-and-mortar stores can deliver. (Holds up hand -- guilty as charged.) Authentic product knowledge and a network of local resources are two such values. They need our patronage to survive.
