Finally got around to calling the Porsche mechanic who did the big clutch job on my car. Very nice guy, Don Wise's Auto Werks
up in Campbell, CA. I was curious which IMS bearing he used when he replaced it while doing all the other work. It's a LN duel
row retro fit, which is what I was hoping for. So the bearing has just under 20k miles and three years on it.

Off to visit (interview) two more service shops here in my area. I don't have any space I can do serious work on a car where I live
so I'm looking into places that rent space for that. But little things like the Mass Airflow sensor would be easy.

I also got two of the radio stations to work on the aftermarket system. Just need a couple of more and I can live with the system
for now and just not talk on the phone while I'm driving. Last thing on the to do list, for now, is a minor tweak to the alignment
so that the steering wheel is perfectly plum to the horizon when driving on a level road.

The previous owner had a double din Kenwood unit installed- I hate it. Fortunately I have the original single din Becker radio. I have ordered a Porsche in-dash upper storage tray and when it arrives my 01 C4 is going back to the stereo shop. I am old school and want the dash to look original.

I can't blame you! I did the exact thing on my last 996. I've warmed up to keep things stock. In fact, when driving my Porsche I could care less about some fancy sound system.

Yea, the problem with most double din aftermarket radios is when you install them in the 996, it looks like a miniature Flat Screen TV hanging on a tiny little wall.

For folks that DD their cars I totally understand why one would want to modernize. I've contemplated removing my radio completely multiple times to make room for more storage if I do the GT3 console delete because I'm not joking when I say I've only turned it on twice. Once to see if it worked when I bought it and once to see if I fixed it after a dead battery caused the "P O R S C H E" text to appear on/off over and over.

Originality bros, unite! (MY NEW TRUNK IS ON MY GARAGE FLOOR IT COUNTS OK!?!?)
