The brakes in my 996 have been acting odd. ABS kicks in sometimes when coming to a stop and I'm not standing on the brakes at all.
They also sometimes when braking, the pedal drops a tiny bit, almost like slipping. The brakes work and do stop the car. The car does not have PSM
I just put new tire on all around. Replaces the worn, but not corded, just at the wear bars A/S 3's (that I hated) with Nankang AS tires. Don't flame me for buying a $400 set of 19" all season tires for the 996. The Nankangs actually feel really good is some lite canyon carving
What is really weird is the braking problem I was having is gone!. The brakes feel great, stop on a dime and no odd ABS activation.
While I ham happy the brakes are proper, I'm at odds how replacing the tires could have "fixed" it
Thoughts???

Re: Odd brake issue
If the ABS is firing inappropriately, I’d start with the reluctor/sensor for the affected channel(s).

I’m guessing the rattle gun at the tire shop jiggled things around enough to make the sensor sense correctly again, at least for a while...

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.
Re: Odd brake issue
Also try a simple fluid flush. Had similar weirdness in the e90. Shop couldn't find anything, but flushed the brake fluid and the brakes have been solid since.

Could be. I was thinking it could have been an ABS sensor.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 6:00 pm If the ABS is firing inappropriately, I’d start with the reluctor/sensor for the affected channel(s).

However, I have checked with my durametric multiple time and never got any errors
