Have I mentioned how pleased I am that you're not coming back to San Diego?

The SR71 at SAC is just out of reach, as well. Unless you want to possibly suffer a 30 foot fall!
When we were at the SAC museum we drove around back where they have some in-process stuff sitting. It was pretty cool just sitting and watching things.
THE Enola Gay is there!? Well after all these years it probably no longer glows in the dark. Still I wouldn't stand near it for a long time. Seriously, that is about the ultimate wartime relic.

Yeah I looked for a better pic to show it, but that railing puts you just out of arm's reach of the nose and wing tips.
You are slightly more removed from the Enola Gay due to anti-war asshats throwing paint on it early on
Another feature of the Annex that makes it really worthwhile for aviation fans is that they have a viewing area where you can watch them work on restoring aircraft. Before kids that get bored in 5 seconds, the wife and I have stood there for over an hour at a time watching them work.
Hmmm.... Need to take another trip with the Hasselblad and see what interesting things I can find...

You can see the walkway in front of her where you are only a few feet and get an excellent view into the cockpit (and then you realize how painful that flight must have been!). It's hard to make out, but you can see the frame for the protective glass wall that is there now. If you know where to look you can still find the dent where the asshat's paint jar hit it32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 9:53 am THE Enola Gay is there!? Am I just being a d!ck and looking at the wrong site, or is something bad wrong with Warehouse33?

I don't know about making a trip just for it, but if you are out this way it is definitely planning a day to spend there. They did a really good job with both the content and display. The have a wall (the Enola's nose is kinda pointing towards it) dedicated to aviation based camera equipment which is cool too.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:22 am Holy Crap! I just sent Jason a text. Last year, he started "Blue Label Racing" in the same building as Warehouse33. It has really taken off: https://www.bluelabelracing.com/32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:50 am I clicked my bookmark and it appears to be "Auf Wiedersehen"

Here is Jason's response:
"Yep I closed it (warehouse33auto.com) on 12/31/20, I was getting too many chargebacks. It was killing me. I still have all of my parts sources, so I can still offer the same prices on parts if people want to email me. And yes on Blue Label Racing, we're busy as ever."

They have a V1! They have an asymetrical Arado is that the Blitz? They even have a Harley-Davidson radial aircraft engine, the only one ever made as far as I know.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:22 am Holy Crap! The have Bob Hoover's Aero Commander, and Bill Kershner's Cessna 152 Aerobat, and the original Dash-80 that Tex Johnson barrel rolled in front of the airline presidents. YES, go there as soon as practical!

When I visited in 1991 that SR-71 was outside in the back, and we walked right up to it. I used to have a picture of myself sitting on the nosewheel. Do they have a B-36?32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:34 am Not near your trip, but...SAC museum at Ashland, NE has an SR71 hanging in the lobby. When I walked in the first time I was stunned!
