I can't even imagine how bad the political section has become in the last 5+ years.

Traded some texts with him after watching that video. Apparently he has driven a LS1 powered Miata and does not want to do it again

He is also now the Chief Instructor for his "home track".

Sounds well otherwise.

Hey, if the place is melting down anyway...

And I did suggest targeting the Mod spam threads, not attacking threads where it isn't relevant.

If the glimpse of the site that cropped up after the mod purge is any indication, I sure ain't missing it.

Simply put, the mods over there are the problem, not the cure. IB just needs to purge the entire group.

Then, once IB gets new mods, they need to have a paid staff member that users can complain or "appeal" to. Two very easy examples of moderator overreach: The Good Week thread should never have been shitcanned (it was the most popular thread on Rennlist and was harmless compared to the politics forum) and my own 1 month ban (that was complete bullshit).

The best thing that can be said about the Turbro forum is that it doesn't appear to have a moderator assigned to it, so it's actually a pretty decent place nowadays.

My son, awag, bought a track car yesterday - a 1995 M3. He was going to buy a beater 3 series and turn it into a track car, but several people (me included) told him he'd save a shit ton of time & money by spending a bit more upfront and buying one that somebody else had already turned into a track car. He's a little nervous about it, but I think he did pretty well - he spent $9,000 on it, but it looks like it's had more than $9,000 in parts alone put into it, plus extra set of wheels and brand new (never used) set of track tires.

Here's the ebay ad text:

For sale is my M3 track car. I have owned it for about 5 yrs and have done many track days with it along. The first year of ownership was spent prepping the car for track/street use, but has slowly become a dedicated track car. I have an extensive amount of time and money in this car. I don't believe you will find better as far as condition goes as most everything has been replaced. You will find cheaper M3s, but they will still have original components and most likely need THOUSANDS in repairs. This car needs nothing. The exterior plastics, trim are showing their age and have cracking and rusty spots, but it’s a track car so who cares. It was purchased for track duty, thus its appearance does not concern me. That said, I will attempt to list all that was done to the car (I am sure I will leave some out). BMW parts used if reasonably priced. I know what KBB says this car is worth and I don't care. I feel I asking a fair price considering the work that has been done to it. I am pretty firm on price but will entertain offers close to the listed price. Please don't email me with lowball offers...I will not reply. I don't NEED to sell this car.

Wheels/Tires:
track wheels are TMR 17x8 with brand new Nitto NT-01 tires 235/40/17. Tires have never been used.
Street wheels are aftermarket and have some curb rash. low mile Nanking tires. They are inexpensive tires. Used to store car as to not flat spot track tires
Both sets come with the car.

Interior:

Car has been gutted for weight savings and to increased performance.

Single Corbeau FX1 seat in place mounted to VAC motorsport seat bases using generic side seat mounting plates.

Sabelt 6 pt mounting harness.

Welded in half cage (have the rest of pre bent material to weld in full cage)

Custom autoblip system designed by myself that uses brake and clutch inputs to initiate a timer that activates a solenoid to blip throttle on braking downshifts. NO MORE HEEL TOE.

CARBON FIBER Sunroof delete panel

Custom HDPE drivers door panel. Original panel falling apart.

Custom Diamond tread aluminum drivers side foot well. Removable for cleaning.

ALL THIS WORK HAS LESS THAN 5 THOUSAND MILES ON IT.

The not so good news:
A/c works but has very slow leak that requires annual top off.
Looks to have been rear ended in previous life. Extended partially into trunk area, Frame untouched. Previous owner did not disclose this, but I can not in good conscience disguise this fact. Car tracks straight with no abnormal tirewear patterns.
Exterior showing its age. several rusty areas on the trim and front fascia brittle plastic and rubber.
area of cracking paint in rear. I will try to take pictures of these areas the best I can.

I like most people didn’t listen to others when told it is cheaper to buy someone elses racecar than try to build it. If you add up all the parts alone not including labor you will see I am asking much less than I have in it.

Judging by the nearest equivalent I have access to over at the Bird, I'm sure its not at all wing nutty.

Me thinks awag got a solid, honest track car from who appears to be a decent seller. I hope he enjoys the cr*p out of it--safely, of course.
Proud owner of a Flat6-powered 2002 996 Cab, 2016 GT4, 2019 Ford F-150 "Country Cadillac", and 2005 Ford Focus (not so hot hatch) daily driver. And a Wright ZTO 52" to keep several acres of grass-like substance neat and tidy!
