In other news, Cuda911 got called out in the last issue of Windblown Witness (the PCA San Diego Region's monthly magazine) for getting his Jeep stuck in the sand during a recent club-sponsored offroading trip. BURN! :D

Looking at your magazine, I see an article on the passing of Paula Brandes after a long bout with cancer. Paula was the executive director of the San Diego Automotive Museum. Our executive director just got back from the annual National Association of Automobile Museums conference and told me about it also. I don't know if any of you San Diego guys knew Paula, but I had the pleasure of meeting her at the NAAM conferences in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She was a very nice lady and helped a great deal with getting the Kansas City Automotive Museum's doors open. Every time I go to the SD Auto Museum, I check in with her, but she was gone the last several times I visited. Now I know why. Cancer sucks.

She looks like a wonderful person that many, many people will miss being around. Makes you realize how short life truly is... don't get me started on how fast my kids have grown.

The Witness almost always has an article about the current installation at the auto museum. A couple of years ago at the San Diego Maker Fair, the museum made room for a number of high-school kids to set up booths to demonstrate their transportation-themed inventions. One kid was working on making bicycles - and ultimately other vehicles - out of bamboo-resin composites.

It's not the Smithsonian, but it's a neat little museum and very thoughtfully curated. Worth the visit if you make your way to Balboa Park.

Funny you ask, I do every day. I have a nice Breitling automatic diving watch that I wear to work and a Casio G-Shock for the rough stuff. No i-watch here! I'm an old soul, I suppose.
