But single digits (f) while still running summer tires can be an exhilarating drive

I drove my VW with R-comp track tires in the snow. Once. It was like driving a hovercraft. At least what I imagine driving a hovercraft would be like.

WTF ECS Tuning!

Post by theprf » Sat Nov 12, 2022 2:48 pm

I recently got a 955 Cayenne Turbo S with a dead engine. After installing a used engine the wagon is running great! Except I seem to have damaged the plastic power steering pulley (WTF Porsche! Plastic pulley on a $121k vehicle!).
ECS tuning offers an aluminum PS pulley for about $50 bux. The OE plastic pulley is also about $50. Of course, ECS being ECS wants $20 to ship a freaking pulley.
The water pump pulley is also plastic. I didn't break this one (yet). ECS also has an aluminum water pump pulley for about $40. They want $9 to ship the water pump pulley which seems not unreasonable.

BUT if you put BOTH pulleys into your cart they want $59 shipping! They can't be serious. I will have to call them Monday and ask them to explain this.

This is just another reason why I don't use ECS any more. They used to be my go-to parts provider after germanautoparts.com went under. Now I use FCP Euro and RM European for most everything.

'Shock and disbelief': World War II bomber, smaller plane collide and crash at Dallas air show

Hate seeing this not only because of the probable loss of lives, but I think the number of air worthy B-17s are dwindling. From watching the video looks like the P-63 misjudged his closing speed.

Shipping costs are nutz these days and some sellers are using this excuse as a way to increase their bottomline. My wife loves buying crap on fleabay and she is complaining most everyday. She bounces the sellers and somehow they find a less expensive way to ship the product. Funny how that happens, huh?

That does sound fun, but I would have to upgrade to something like Blizzaks or similar. Winter ride is the Volvo XC40 R Design
Dang, Billy, you got a Raby-engined C4S, a Civic Type R AND and an XC40 R Design?!

Horrific crash. 6 dead. Loss of 2 historic aircraft.

We had this sign (and a couple of others) posted in our Operations Department at the counter where you reviewed the maintenance records of the aircraft you were about to go flying in. Very sad day.

Actually what I have is a 1975 Chrysler Cordoba(with corinthian leather of course), a 1964 36hp VW Bug and a 1958 Rambler Rebel station wagon.

My life is all a lie...a lie...😔

Excellent sign.

From being a big fan of the military air performance groups(Angels/Thunderbirds) forever I have read a bunch of stuff about them. Even these guys who are highly trained and practiced there are deadly accidents occasionally. Nothing against air show pilots in antique aircraft but my guess is the chance of an incident is surely higher. Last airshow I went to here had a P51 doing flybys with an F15 as a wingman. P51 was at full whack and the F15 was about to fall out of the sky. Did not look safe to me. Pretty cool but not safe.

Tried to buy this at the dealers’ auction on Wednesday to flip it on BaT in March (when everyone loses their freaking minds and overpays due to spring car buying fever). Alas, it was not to be. Estimated auction value was $30,800, which was about what other pricing models were giving as wholesale value. I put in the first bid at $29,000, thinking I’d go all the way up to $33,000 since Peridot Green Metallic should do well on BaT. My last bid was at $36,600, and it didn’t stop until $37,400, making it over $38,000 with buyer’s fees. I don’t remember ever seeing a vehicle go for 25% over wholesale at the auction. That means retailing it at nearly $46,000 to make any profit (for a real dealer with a lot and employees, etc).

It was also a previous Canadian vehicle. And had paintwork (although no accident history on Carfax). Still, it would have been cool to get it.
