Well, I didn't get off Scott-free. Some of the sheets covering my patio furniture got damp.

We got about 7 inches of rain up here, but it was steady, and there was no significant wind. The snow plows are cruising around getting gravel, rocks, and mud off of some roads, but otherwise it was pretty much a non-event in Big Bear.

My crazy German neighbor started cooking everything in her fridge and freezer yesterday in case the power went out. So tonight we're getting a free dinner out of the deal.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Good to hear.

We have friends and relatives scattered around Southern and Central California. It seems the impacts were worse as you went further east (inland). The coast fared well but both the low and high desert areas of CA got a drenching--and towns and roads there are simply not up to the task of dealing with any sort of significant rain.

Yea, much of the Coachella Valley was hammered. Roads in and out of Palm Springs closed. Part of the 10 freeway closed.

The desert just can't absorb that much rain all at once

The bonus for us is that the road crews up here in the mountains are used to dealing with slides, avalanches, etc. and have the equipment to deal with it. I'm glad we weren't in Palm Springs / Palm Desert over the weekend.
