Another feature of the Annex that makes it really worthwhile for aviation fans is that they have a viewing area where you can watch them work on restoring aircraft. Before kids that get bored in 5 seconds, the wife and I have stood there for over an hour at a time watching them work.
Hmmm.... Need to take another trip with the Hasselblad and see what interesting things I can find...
You can see the walkway in front of her where you are only a few feet and get an excellent view into the cockpit (and then you realize how painful that flight must have been!). It's hard to make out, but you can see the frame for the protective glass wall that is there now. I don't know about making a trip just for it, but if you are out this way it is definitely planning a day to spend there. They did a really good job with both the content and display. When I visited in 1991 that SR-71 was outside in the back, and we walked right up to it. I used to have a picture of myself sitting on the nosewheel.
