Nicely said. MMMMMHHHH! Ribs! You could take a gratuitous pic for posting later...5chn3ll wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 4:26 pm Assuming I won't get a chance to post this tomorrow, as I'll be applying fire to a SHITLOAD of ribs:
Happy independence day! I hope those of you who are my compatriots spend it doing something that reminds you of the freedoms we enjoy and the road we've taken to get where we are today.

Well, congratulations, again. He sounds like a very fine young man. Adopted, I presume.JayG wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 9:12 pmBelieve me we tried. He initially was going to sign a Navy contract for Crypto Linguist, but he wanted more excitement, playing with guns and jumping out of airplanes. He is a smart one, got a 96 on the ASVAB. Basicially he qualified fror ANY job in any branch. Also the Army will pay off his studant loans and he gets a $30k sigining bonus. The Navy was only a $35k bonus, no loan payoff.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 8:38 pm
Congratulations Jay! Now, had you talked him into joining the Navy, chances are you would have him around for quite a few weekends.
We would have been a lot happier with a Sailor rather than a Soldier. It's his life, he has to do what he wants, and I know he will have a great one
With the army, he will most likely be stationed in the east so we are not going to see much of him.

Hooah Jay!
Congrats and good luck to your son. My dad was a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne.
Accepted to Special Forces and making it through training are of course two different things, but even if he doesn't make it you clearly have a son to be proud of. Good luck to him. I hope he makes it.
While "staying safe" isn't in their DNA, he'll have all the tools he needs to come home safe after making key contributions.
Definitely an awesome guy you've raised.

Yea, we have talked about that. He is very determined (my 1/2 of the DNA). Mentially, I have no doubt he will be fine. Physicially, he is strong as an ox, but does need to lose 30 lbs. He made the cut with the tape test. I am pretty sure with the excersiz and diet now combined with boot camp, he will be a lean mean fighting machinegnat wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 11:11 am Hooah Jay!

He scored 96 percentile on the ASVAB and verty high on the individule ratings too, so if he washes out on the physicasl stuff for special forces, they will most likely put him in an intelligence job in Airborne. I''m pretty sure he will pass all the physile stuff
BTW Gnat, youi live in the DC area?

Just remember smartass, don't come crying to me when I piss someone off enough to bomb that whole area "just to be sure". Not my kid that lives in that area...

Army Brat, but spent most of my life in the NoVA area.
