6 years and tis finally ignition switch time. Is this an OEM only thing or do you guys recommend a good third party option? Only company I avoid is URO (U Regret Once). Thanks boys.

When you search for the part, there's a $12 part and a 30 some dollar part. The ~$30 part's the one you want. You don't need the Porsche part, just don't buy the $12 one.Dr_Strangelove (whew!) wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:32 pm 6 years and tis finally ignition switch time. I can tell you what I don't want to do: the brakes. Brake pad wear light went on this morning. Easiest job in the world, I know, but I am running out of motivation.

I'm getting everything ready for an auto-to-manual swap. C'mon, you can muster the energy to do a brake job!
Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Holy crap! A 996 owner who does NOT have the pad wear sensors zip-tied to the brake lines?!?

I feel your pain. I'm due for an oil change and have put that off for weeks because...well...no motivation.

I cut so many corners, my jobs are a circle but I never got this one. Changing these is easier than changing the air filter once you've got everything apart. If these trigger false positives I guess I would understand it.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 10:56 am Holy crap! A 996 owner who does NOT have the pad wear sensors zip-tied to the brake lines?!?

I'll find the motivation once I get the estimate from my indy, I suspect.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
My biggest issue is the lack of space. My house and driveway are on such a steep hill that when I pull onto my race ramps, the car is level. This makes oil changes a snap, but excludes the driveway of doing any jack stand work. And my garage floor is a mess. So I am toying with doing this in the parking lot down the street, but that's not a great solution either. Last time I did this in the garage but had to turn the car around to do the other side.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 11:19 am I feel your pain.
