Jaws scared the living crap out of me when I was a kid, not least because I grew up about 20 minutes from the water and we were always in the water or out on boats. The sea is full of monsters already, not including 20 foot sharks. Tuna and bluefish can both be aggressive shits, and the first time I saw a shark after watching this movie (a harmless sand shark) we almost beat it to death. I fell off a jetty once and almost drowned.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 7:20 pm Watching Jaws now. I have decided that I now want to be Captain Sam Quint when I grow up.

Back before the internet, there were still wild rumors. A common one was that some crazy person brought a "freshwater shark" from South America and put it in "fill in the blank name" local lake. I remember my 11 year old self being scared to death that a shark fin would pop up next to me while waiting for the boat to come back around while waterskiing.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:26 pmJaws scared the living crap out of me when I was a kid, not least because I grew up about 20 minutes from the water and we were always in the water or out on boats. I also remember sitting next to a girl at the local movie theatre (as 11 years old probably have no business doing), and the movie totally freaked her out, as in she became hysterical. It put a serious dent in the make-out activity.
Awesome movie. According to IMDB, it is credited as "the first ever summer blockbuster movie." The shark was fake, but the fear was real.

Yeah we talked about that one too. To my knowledge and his all the weird shit caused by that only happens after you insert something into a small dark hole.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:29 amI'm sure you thought of this already, but whenever "weird shit" and electrical get mentioned with a 996 . . .

Sometimes you have to wiggle it around a little to get things going...

The Outhere Bros also provided the soundtrack to my favorite-ever TV commercial. *explicit* Wanna learn English?

You know, you could've used the time you spent watching the "Wiggle, Wiggle" video to do something useful, like, oh, using your Photoshop skills for a worthy non-profit.
