You must spend significant amount of time staring at the ground!? I did that as a kid and walked into many hard stationary objects. Perhaps that explains a lot...be careful and don't spend it all in one place.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
That's cool! Mrs. Schnell got me one of those a few years back - I picked the Ferrari over the Lambo. It was an "entry level" Ferrari - I was kinda underwhelmed with the performance as well as the cabin quality. I also found the Ferrari shifting (neutral, park, etc.) annoying as heck, but it's probably nothing once you're used to it.
The guy who rode with me did invite me to do some laps in my 996 afterward, which was cool - but I would have been sharing the course with other customers, and those other people were driving like maniacs. I would NOT want to be one of the ride-along guys at those events - every other customer I watched was a Dale Earhhardt wanna-be as soon as the engine fired. Those poor cars got the absolute crap beaten out of them...

Ok, can someone explain to me in clear English how did this kid die? I've read a few articles on this, but I cannot visualize how he managed to off himself in a 2002 Honda Odyssey. I don't know how reaching over the seat to grab a tennis racquet pins one under the sit.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Here's a video I found that shows the seat operation:
I have a feeling that somehow the seat was not locked fully in position. I imagine he had a tennis racquet in that recess that holds the collapsed seat. He was probably in the third row reaching over the seat into the well for his stuff. He then probably triggered the first unlocking mechanism, the one where you pull back toward you on the fabric strap (in the video), though in his case, leaning toward the opening and pushing the seat backward. The second locking mechanism likely failed or was not actually locked, and his weight pushing toward the open well probably caused the seat to collapse with him inside of it. I'm imagining that he wasn't actually under the seat, rather between the two cushions of the seat itself when it performed its "clam shell" motion and collapsed into the well. When it came down with his weight inside I'm sure it either partially locked or fully locked with him squeezed inside.
This is 100% my theory, but after watching that video a few times that's the best explanation I can come up with. The secondary lock could not have been functioning otherwise it would have stopped the seat from collapsing.
FWIW - there are a lot of other YT videos that explain how to fix these locks, so I'm sure they break all the time - and his was a 16 year old model, so totally plausible it wasn't in top shape.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Instead of using the rear liftgate, the boy crawled over the third-row seat to grab his tennis gear. Why he didn't use the liftgate is a mystery. As he was leaning over the seat, the seat rotated pinning him against the rear lift gate upside down. Apparently, the third row seat wasn't in locked position.Kalashnikov wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 10:56 am Ok, can someone explain to me in clear English how did this kid die? Well, the real question is how the hell didn't they find him when he called 911 and told them where he was.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Because he got the worlds worst 911 dispatcher who A) refused to believe it wasn't a prank and B) didn't give any kind of real description of the vehicle to the responding officers.kcattorney wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 12:40 pm Well, the real question is how the hell didn't they find him when he called 911 and told them where he was.
Supposedly all they had was "kid trapped in a minivan" or something, but they couldn't even be bothered to get out of their car to physically inspect all the minivans in the lot (maybe because the dispatcher wasn't impressing the seriousness of the situation since they didn't believe the kid?).
